Optimized IT service management helps to raise the value and quality of IT services by increasing its efficiency and effectiveness in health care. IT processes optimization according to ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library), the standardization of information systems, the adjustment of ITC strategy, increasing the IT reaction capability or higher change management effectiveness… Those are possible ways of streamlining the IT services management.

Visible results of this process are primarily to improve services for patients, as was demonstrated by the example of the largest Slovenian hospital University Medical Center in Lubljana. They managed to reduce administration, to introduce a single point of contact for all IT problems and to improve overall IT services provided by optimizing of IT services and a comprehensive view of IT as a whole.
